Sachin Tendulkar hit his first century in New Zealand as India beat New Zealand by 58 runs in a high scoring game at Christchurch on Sunday, 8th March, 2009 and take a 2-0 lead in 5 match series. India scored 392/4 in 50 overs and bowled out New Zealand on 334 in 45.1 overs.

India batting first reduced to 65/2 but a superb batting display by Sachin Tendulkar and Yuraj Singh put 138 runs partnership in 16 overs.
