Asish Nehra is injured may miss Final on 2nd April, Muralia also unfit


India's fast bowler Ashish Nehra who played a big role in the 29 runs win against Pakistan at Mohali may miss the Final of 2011 Cricket World Cup with finger injury.

Nehra who took 2 wickets in the semi for just 33 runs was injured while attempting an unsuccessful catch of Shahid Afridi as replays confirmed the ball had bounced in front of him, was in pain and immediately had his finger taped.He however Nehra was able to get through three more overs in the match, as the injury was on his non-bowling hand.

India will take the decision only on Friday, told Ranjib Biswal, the Indian team manager.

Sri Lankan spin legend Muralitharan who is probably playing his last match is also injured even though he played semi with hamstring injury, a side strain, a troublesome knee and a groin issue, and chances are that he may play one final time.

Muralitharan required just 8 wickets to reach the 800 landmark of wickets and India provided exactly 8 wickets to him in his last test match as Sri Lanka beat India by 10 wickets in the 1st Test match on Thursday, 22nd July, 2010 at Galle.

Sri Lanka needed 5 wickets and India trailing by 63 runs on the 5th and final day and Sri Lankan bowlers removed Dhoni and Harbhajan early. Laxman (69) put some resistance first with Mithun by puuting 49 runs and then with Ishant Sharmy by puuting 68 runs. Murali needed 1 more wickets as the last pair playing and he has the final laugh as he took last wickets to reach 800 wickets and finish in style for a remarkable and wonderful career.

Sri Lankan Test Team, Squad agsinst India - Murali's last Match, SL Test Team


Sri Lankan selectors announced team for 3 match test series at home against India starting from 18th July under captaincy of Sangakkara. Lasith Malinga has been included in the team after two-and-a-half years while there was no place for spinner Ajantha Mendis even though 1st test in Galles will be last test for highest wickets taker Muthaiah Muralithara.
