Sachin Tendulkar hit his first century in New Zealand as India beat New Zealand by 58 runs in a high scoring game at Christchurch on Sunday, 8th March, 2009 and take a 2-0 lead in 5 match series. India scored 392/4 in 50 overs and bowled out New Zealand on 334 in 45.1 overs.India batting first reduced to 65/2 but a superb batting display by Sachin Tendulkar and Yuraj Singh put 138 runs partnership in 16 overs. Tendukar was retired hurt after 163 runs off 133 balls with 16 fours and 5 sixes, Yuraj scored 87 off 60 balls with 10 fours and 6 sixes. Dhoni and Raina also contributed well with 68 off 58 balls and 38 off just 18 balls.
New Zealand Started brilliantly with a 166 runs first wicket partnership in just 22 overs by Ryder and McCullum with 105 runs off 80 balls with 12 fours and 4 sixes and 71 off 68 balls. But they lost 8 wickets for 95 runs and struggling but Mills and Southee put 83 runs for and scared India one stage.
