Asish Nehra is injured may miss Final on 2nd April, Muralia also unfit


India's fast bowler Ashish Nehra who played a big role in the 29 runs win against Pakistan at Mohali may miss the Final of 2011 Cricket World Cup with finger injury.

Nehra who took 2 wickets in the semi for just 33 runs was injured while attempting an unsuccessful catch of Shahid Afridi as replays confirmed the ball had bounced in front of him, was in pain and immediately had his finger taped.He however Nehra was able to get through three more overs in the match, as the injury was on his non-bowling hand.

India will take the decision only on Friday, told Ranjib Biswal, the Indian team manager.

Sri Lankan spin legend Muralitharan who is probably playing his last match is also injured even though he played semi with hamstring injury, a side strain, a troublesome knee and a groin issue, and chances are that he may play one final time.

India beat New Zealand by 6 wickets in the 2nd ODI of Compaq Cup tri-series on Friday, 11th September, 2009 at Colombo. India qualify for the Compaq Cup Final against Sri Lanka on Monday, 14th September, 2009.

New Zealand opted to bat first bowled out on 155 runs in 46.3 overs as Ashish Nehra and Yuvraj Singh took 3 wickets each and India successfully chased with 6 wickets and 57 balls remaining thanks to Tendulkar's 46 runs and unbeaten 45 and 35 runs by Raina and Dhoni respectively.

Match Summary:

New Zealand - 155/all out in 46.3 Ovs (Vettori 25, Nehra 3-24, Yuvraj 3-31)

India - 156/4 wickets in 40.3 Ovs (Tendulkar 46, Vettori 33-2)

Toss - New Zealand, who chose to bat

Man of the Match - Ashish Nehra (India)

Result - India Win by 6 wickets (with 57 balls remaining)

Indian Team, Squad for 2009 Tour of West Indies - Tendulkar, Zaheer rested - Nehra in

After the early exclusion from the 2009 Twenty20 World Cup, India is going to play short ODI series against West Indies. Indian selectors announced the team on Wednesday, 17th June, 2009 with 4 main player out of the team due to injury.

Sachin Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan has been rested to recover fully for their injuries during IPL2 while hard hitter opener Virender Sehwag and middle order batsman Suresh Raina are out due to injury. Irfan Pathan and Munaf Patel who toured New Zealand has not been included in the team.

M Vijay will replace Sehwag while Asish Nehra has rewarded is good form in IPL2.
