Title favorite India started their hunt for 2011 World Cup very well with a huge 87 runs win over c0-host Bangladesh in the opening game on Saturday, 19th February, 2011 at Mirpur. IND made 370/4 in 50 overs and BAN made 283/9 in 50 overs.

India started well with 69 runs for the 1st wicket and Sehwag 175 runs off 140 balls with 14 fours and 5 sixes and Virat Kohli 100 not out off 83 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes took the match away with 203 runs in 24 overs and set a huge total.

Bangladesh also stared well with 56 runs in 7 overs but Munaf Patel who took 4 wickets and Harbhajan bowled brilliantly and dried up the runs and they were always behind the run rate.

Match Summary:

India - 370/4 in 50 overs (Sehwag 175, Kohli 100*)

Bangladesh - 283/9 in 50 overs (Tamim 70, Shakib 55, Munaf 4-48)

Toss - Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bowl.

Tendulkar wins ICC Cricketer of the Year Award - Sehwag Test Player and de Villiers ODI

Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar has won his first ICC award, the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy being elected as Cricketer of the Year during the 2010 ICC Award ceremony in Bangalore. India's Virender Sehwag won the Test Cricketer of the Year award and South Africa's AB de Villiers claiming the ODI player of the Year award.

Sachin Tendulkar, beat Virender Sehwag, Hashim Amla and Graeme Swann the other nominees in the Cricketer of the Year category. During the year for award August 24, 2009 to August 10, 2010 - Tendulkar scored 1064 runs at an average of 81.84 in ten Tests, also made 914 runs in 17 ODIs at 65.28, on his way to scored first double century of ODI against South Africa in Gwalior.

Indian captain MS Dhoni appointed as captain of the Test Team of the Year, which included Sehwag, Kumar Sangakkara, Swann, Tendulkar, Amla, Simon Katich, Dale Steyn, Jacques Kallis, James Anderson and Doug Bollinger.

Australian ODI captain Ricky Ponting appointed as captain of the ODI Team of the Year, leading a side comprising Tendulkar, Shane Watson, Michael Hussey, de Villiers, Paul Collingwood, Dhoni, Daniel Vettori, Stuart Broad, Bollinger and Ryan Harris.

New Zealand's T20 opener, Brendon McCullum, won the award for the best Twenty20 Performance of the Year for his 116 not out against Australia in Christchurch in February, beat edged out Hussey, Mahela Jayawardene and Ryan McLaren.

England fast bowler Steven Finn won the award for Emerging Player of the Year, has taken 32 wickets in 8 matches since his debut. Netherlands allrounder Ryan ten Doeschate won the Associate Player of the Year award.

ICC Spirit of Cricket Award goes to New Zealand for the second time in a row. Pakistani umpire Aleem Dar won the Umpire of the Year Award for the second time in a row.

IND vs SRL 6th ODI Result - India vs Sri Lanka Final again, India beat NZL by 105 runs


In a must win 6th and final ODI of Micromax tri-series, India easily beat New Zealand by 105 runs to make it yet another final with Sri Lanka on Saturday, 28th August, 2010 at Dambulla. IND all out on 223 in 46.3 overs and NZL all out on 118 runs in 30.1 overs.

India got a poor start, struggling at 66/4 but 107 runs 5th wicket partnership between Dhoni 38 and Sehwag who hit brilliant century in difficult condition with 110 runs off 93 balls with 16 fours and 1 six to get a respectable total of 223. New Zealand then also got bad start and reduced to 52-7 after 20 overs and finally bowled out on before some quick runs by Mills.

Match Summary:

India - 223 all out in 46.3 overs (Sehwag 110, Dhoni 38, Southee 4-49)

New Zealand - 118 all out in 30.1 overs (Mills 52, Praveen 3-34, Munaf 3-21)

India finally got all the things right with both bat and ball and registered their first win in the Micromax tri-series as they beat host Sri Lanka by 6 wickets with 93 balls remaining and got a bonus point on Monday, 16th August, 2010 at Dambulla. SRL all out on 170 runs in 46.1 overs and IND made 171/4 in 34.3 overs.

India started well with first ball wicket and Sri Lanka never back in the match despite Dilshan's 45 nad Randiv's 43 runs and all out on 170 runs with Ojha took 3 wickets and Praveen Kumar took 2 wickets. India then reduced to 32-3 but Sehwag played beautifully with unbeaten 99 runs off 100 balls and make sure that India got a bonus point. Sehwag missed a well deserved century despite hit a six on the last ball but match was over due to no ball.

Sri Lanka - 170 all out in 46.1 overs (Dilshan 46, , Ojha 3-36, Praveen 2-20)

India - 171/4 in 34.3 overs (Sehwag 99, Mathews 2-32)

In a thrilling match of test cricket India beat host Sri Lanka by 5 wickets in the 3rd and final test and level the series 1-1 on Saturday, 7th August, 2010 at Colombo. Sri Lanka won the 1st test while 2nd test was drawn.

Match was well poised at the start of 5th and final day as India needed 204 runs with 7 wickets in hand but Sachin Tendulkar (54) and VVS Laxman put 109 runs for the 5th wickets to avoid and drama. Laxman hit a brilliant century under pressure with unbeaten 103 runs to guide India level the series and maintain their top test ranking. Suresh Raina also contributed with quick 45 balls 41 runs.

VVs Laxman got Man of the Match for his brilliant century of 103 not out and 56 runs in the 1st inning while Virender Sehwag got Man of the Series for his 348 runs in 5 innings.

India kept their nerve cool at the death overs and defended 414 run by just 3 runs to win the high scoring 1st ODI against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, 15th December, 2009 at Rajkot. India made 414-7 in 50 overs and restricted Sri Lanka on 411-8 in 50 overs.

India invited to bat first got a flying start by openers Sachin Tendulkar hit 69 runs and Sehwag who hit 146 runs off just 102 balls with 17 fours 6 sixes put 153 runs for the 1st wicket in 19.3 overs Dhoni also made 72 runs of 53 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes and helpe India to score their 2nd 400+ score.

Sri Lanka replied strongly and put 188 runs for the 1st wicket by Dilshan 160 runs of 124 balls with 20 fours and 3 sixes and Tharanga 67 runs. Sangakkra played a crucial inning of 90 runs in just 43 balls and took them to 316-1 in 36 overs but they collapsed to 345-5. Kandamby and Mathews put 56 in the ends but zaheer and Nehra bowled brilliantly in the end to clinch a thriller.

In a high scoring 2nd Twenty20 International between India and Sri Lanka, India won by 6 wickets with 5 balls remaining and level the series 1-1 on Saturday, 12th December, 2009 at Mohali. Sri Lanka made 206-7 in 20 overs and India made 211-4 in 19.1 overs

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first once gain made a 200+ runs thanks to inform captain Sangakkara's 59 runs of 31 balls and poor fielding by India.

In reply India started well as Sehwag made 36 balls 64 runs with 7 fours and 3 sixes and then birthday boy Yuvraj Sing played a blazing inning of 60 runs of just 25 balls with 3 fours and 5 sixes. Dhoni also contributed 46 runs.

This is the highest chase in the Twenty20 match and also the most runs scored in a match, 417 runs in both innings. Yuvraj Singh is Man of the Match for his 50 runs and 3 wickets.

Virender Sehwag's 293 runs in the 1st inning and Zahher Khan's 5 wickets in the second inning helps India to won the 3rd and and final test match against Sri Lanka at Mumbai and grabs the no.1 spot in ICC Test Ranking on Sunday, 6th December, 2009.

India needed 4 wickets on the final day with Sangakkara batting on 131 but Zaheer removed him early and then finished the tailender to give India a thumping win. Zaheer Khan took 5 wickets for 72 runs.

Virender Sehwag got Man of the Match for his 293 runs in the 1st inning as well as Man of the Series for scoring 491 runs in 4 innings.

Virender Sehwag was in his typical fearless form once again and the result is India made 443-1 in just 79 overs at an average of 5.60 as Sehwag scored his 6th double centuryand broke so many record on his unbeaten 284 runs.

India bowled out Sri Lanka on 293 runs early in the morning as Angelo Mathews missed his century by just 1 run as he was run out on 99 runs. Harbhajan Singh took 4 wicket while Pragyan Ojha took 3 wickets.

Sehwag then started India's inning with new partner M Vijay and scored 221 runs in 39.1 runs as Vijay contributed 87 runs. Sehwag made his century in 102 balls and then scored next hundred in just 64 balls. Sehwag then put 222 unbeaten runs with Dravid who made 62 not out while Sehwag on 284 not out off just 239 balls with 40fours and 7 sixes.

India is in very well position with 50 runs lead and will try to take a good lead on the 3rd day of another 400 runs and then have 2 days to bowled out Sri Lankans to take 1st spot in ICC ranking.

India registered their 100th test win with a style as they won the 2nd test match by an inning and 144 runs on the 4th day itself on Friday, 27th November, 2009 at Kanpur. Sreesanth won the Man of the Match award. India is leading the 3 match series by 1-0.

India needed six wickets on the 4th day and started well with Mathew gone early but Prasanna and Samarweera put 61 runs before Mendis gave frustraion with his 75 ball innings. Samarweera left with short of partners as he was not out on 78 runs.
