IND v SRL 2011 CWC Final Result - India won the Cricket World Cup, beat Sri Lanka by 6 wickets


India has done it, won the 2011 Cricket World Cup after 28 years, beat Sri Lanka in the Grand Finale by 6 wickets with 10 balls remaining, on Saturday, 2nd April, 2011 at Mumbai. Dhoni hit unbeaten 91 runs and Gambhir 97 runs stars in successful chase of 274 runs,

Sangakkara elected to bat first after winning the re-toss, as first one wasn't heard by referee, got a slow start as Zaheer bowled 3 consecutive maiden overs and took a wicket. They were 60-2 in 16 overs but 2 veterans, Sangakkara 48 runs and Jayawardhane brought them back in the match. They were struggling at 182/5 in 40 overs but Mahela played gem of a knock one of his best with unbeaten century 103* off just 88 balls with 13 fours and added 56 runs in 48 balls with Kulasekara who hit 30 balls 32 runs as they managed 63 runs in the power play as Perera hit 22 runs off just 9 balls.

India then lost Sehwag on the 2nd ball off Malinga who also took biggest wicket of Tendulkar as India reduced to 31-2 in 6 overs. Gambhir then first put 83 runs with Kohli 35 runs and then crucial partnership 109 runs with Dhoni. Gambhir hit brilliant 97 runs under pressure, while Dhoni played captain's inning of unbeaten 91 runs off 79 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes and clinch the thriller with unbeaten 54 runs with Yuvraj who made 21*.

IND v PAK 2011 CWC 2nd SF Result - India v Sri Lanka Final, beat Pakistan by 29 runs


India maintained their winning streak in the World Cup against bitter Rivals as they beat Pakistan in the high profile 2nd Semi-Final, by 29 runs in a thriller on Wednesday, 30th March, at Mohali to reach in the dream Final at home against Sri Lanka on Saturday, 2nd April, 2011.

India got a great start by openers Sehwag 38 and Tendulkar put 48 runs in 6 overs and they were on top with 116-1 in 19 overs but Wahab took 2 wickets in 2 balls to push them on back foot. India some how managed 260/9 in 50 overs thanks to Tendulkar's 85 runs and Raina's unbeaten 36 runs. Wahab Riaz bowled brilliantly with 5 wickets haul.

Pakistan got a decent start with 44 runs with Hafeez hit 43 runs but regular wickets will never allowed to come on top as all the 5 bowlers Zaheer, Nehra, Munaf, Harbhajan and Yuvraj bolwed brilliantly and took 2 wickets each. Misbah tried hard with 56 runs but didn't get any support from others.

SRL v NZL 2011 CWC 1st SF Result - Sri Lanka in the Final, beat New Zealand by 5 wickets in a thriller


Co-host Sri Lanka reached in the Final of 2011 Cricket World Cup, with a 5 wicket tense win over New Zealand with 13 balls remaining in the 1st Semi-Final on Tuesday, 29th March, 2011 at Colombo. Sri Lanka ensures that World Cup will come back to Asia as the Final will be played with the winner between India and Pakistan tomorrow.

New Zealand could made a decent total when they were 161-3 in 39 overs as Taylor and Styris 57 runs playing but collapsed and managed only 217 runs in 48.5 overs. Muralitharan took 2 wickets playing las match in Sri Lanka while Malinga and Mendis took 3 wickets each.

Sri Lanka once again got a good start by openers and then Dilshan 73 runs and Sangakkara 54 runs took them to 160-1 on 32 overs but quick wickets put them on back foot but Samarweera and Methews kept their nerves to ensure a Final birth with 5 wickets win.

SRL v ENG 2011 CWC 4th QF Result - Sri Lanka Crushed England by 10 wickets, meet NZL in 1st SF


Coo-host Sri Lanka passed strong signal to opponents with superb performance from both bat and ball as they beat England by 10 wickets with 63 balls remaining, in the 4th QF of 2011 CWC on Saturday, 26th March at Colombo. Sri Lanka will now take New Zealand in the 1st Semi-Final on Tuesday, 29th March at Colombo.

England after winning the toss got a bad start but Trott hit 86 runs put 91 runs for the 4th wicket with Morgan who hit 50 runs, but unable to scored quick runs even at the end due to good bowling by Sri Lanka bowlers as Murali took 2 wickets.

Sri Lankan openers then dominated and chased the runs without loosing any wickets as Dilshan hit 108* runs off 115 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes and Tharanga made 102 not out runs off 122 balls with 12 fours and a six.

NZL v SAF 2011 CWC 3rd QF Result - South Africa chokes again, New Zealand won by 49 runs


South Africa's world cup tragedy continues, as they proved they are chokers when they lost to New Zealand by 49 runs in the 3rd Quarter-Final of the 2011 CWC, on Friday, 25th March, 2011 at Mirpur. New Zealand will now face the winner of Sri Lanka v England match in the 1st semifinal.

New Zealand started badly with 2 early wickets but Taylor 43 runs and Jesse Ryder who hit 83 runs put 114 runs for the 3rd wicket and they managed only 221/8 in 50 overs thanks to good bowling by Morkel and Tahir, took 3 wickets each.

South Africa started well and they were comfortably ahead at 108-2 in 24 overs with Kallis 47 and de Villiers 35 palying but lost 6 quick wickets derailed their innings as Nathan McCullum and Oram took 3 & 4 wickets respectively. du Plessis tried hard to turn the match with 35 runs but run out of partner.

IND v AUS 2011 CWC 2nd QF Result - India in Semis, won by 5 wickets, IND v PAK semifinal


India has doe it, Yuvraj has done it again as he guided co-host in the Semi-Finals of the 2011 CWC, with a convincing 5 wickets with 14 balls remaining over defending champions Australia on Thursday, 24th March, 2011 at Ahmedabad. India now set semi-final clash with arch rivals Pakistan in the 1st SF on Tuesday, 29th March at Mohali.

Australi aafter winning the toss got a good start by Watson 25 and Haddin 52 runs and were at good position with 110-1 in 22 overs but soon reduced to 150-4. But captain Ricky Ponting hit a timely century with 118 balls 104 runs and set a competitive total of 260/6 as David Hussey contributed 26 balls 38 runs. Yuvraj, Ashwin and Zaheer took 2 wickets each.

India also got a good start as Tendulkar and Gambhir hit half centuries but at one stage they were looking like collapsing but in-form Yuvraj Singh again guided a comfortable but tensed 5 wicket win, put unbeaten 74 runs with Raina who made 28 balls 34 runs.

PAK v WI 2011 CWC 1st QF Result - Pakistan Semis, won by 10 wickets


Pakistan thrashed West Indies by 10 wickets with 29 overs remaining in the 1st quarter-final and booked their place in the semi-finals on Wednesday, 23rd March, 2011 at Mirpur.

West Indies after winning the toss, nothing went right for them as they reduced to 16-3 and some how managed 112 runs as Pakistani spinners bowled brilliantly and Afridi again took 4 wickets and took his world cup tally to 21wickets in 7 games, Chanderpaul was the only batsman put some fight with 44 not out.

In reply Pakistan openers didn't show any mercy and completed the target in only 20.5 overs as Hafeez 61 runs with 10 fours and Kamran Akmal 47 not out put them in semis to face the winner of 2nd QF between India and Australia.

IND v WI 2011 CWC 42nd Match Result - Yuvraj & Zaheer helps finish 2nd, won by 80 runs


It's India vs Australia in the 2nd quarter finals as India beat West Indies by 80 runs in the final league match at Chennai and finishes 2nd in Group B while West Indies will take Pakistan in the first QF.

Indian lower order collapsed once again from 218-3 to 268 all out before Yuvraj who hit brilliant 113 runs and with 10 fours and 2 sixes put 123 runs for the 3rd wicket with Kohli who made 59 runs, Ravi Rampaul took 5 wickets. West Indies were on top with 154-2 in 30 overs but Zaheer changed the game by removing Smith who made 81 runs and they all out on 188 runs in 43 overs.

PAK v AUS 2011 CWC 40th Match Result - Pakistan halts Australia with 4 wicket win, takes top spot


Australia's unbeaten 34 matches record in world cup finally comes to an end, by the same team Pakistan, won by 4 wickets with 54 balls remaining and moves on top of Group A, on Saturday, 19th March, 2011 at Colombo.

Australia got a slow start and regular wickets never allowed them to take momentum due to brilliant bowling by Umar Gul, Razzak and Rehman and all out on 176. Pakistan then started cautiously and Asad Shafiq hit 46 and Umar Akmal stayed till the end with 44 runs to seal a comfortable win and also grabs the top spot.

The result means Australia will likely meet India and Pakistan will take West indies in the quarter finals.

South Africa crushed co-host Bangladesh and knocked them out of World Cup 2011, and also takes top position in Group B with 206 runs win on Saturday, 19th March, 2011 at Mirpur.

South Africa made 284/8 with half centuries from Amla 51, Kallis 69 and run a ball 52 runs by Faf du Plessis on the slow wicket. Bangladesh batting then collapsed against South Africa's 2nd string bowlers as Steyn and Morkel has been rested and Tsotsobe and Petersen took 3 wickets each.

SRL v NZL 2011 CWC 38th Match Result - Sri Lanka moves on top in Group B with 112 runs win


Sri Lanka won their last league match easily by 112 runs against New Zealand and moves on top in Group A, in the 38th match of 2011 CWC on Friday, 18th March, 2011 at Mumbai.

Sri Lanka lost 2 early wickets and then Jayawardhane 66 and Sangakkra who hit a century after 63 innings put 143 runs and in the end Mathews 41 not out to set a competitive total of 265/9. New Zealand then lost regular wickets due to good bowling by Mendis and Muralitharan took 2 and 4 wickets respectively.

Ireland again proved that they are best associate team when they chased 2nd 300+ score in the world cup, surpassed 306 with 14 balls remaining against Netherlands on Friday, 18th March, 2011 at Kolkata.

Holland after 2 early wickets managed to score 306 runs thanks to 2nd century of WC by Ryan ten Doeschate with 106 runs and Borren made 84 runs. Poterfield 68 runs and Stirling 101 off 72 balls with 14 fours and 2 sixes to put 177 runs for the 1st wicket in 27 overs and then easily reached the target with 14 balls to go.

ENG v WI 2011 CWC 36th Match Result - England's WC hopes alive with a thrilling 18 runs win


England continues with their thrilling world cup matches as they beat West Indies by 18 runs and stay alive in world cup on Thursday, 17th March at Bengaluru. England still have to wait for matches between Bangladesh v South Africa and India v West Indies to qualify.

England started well with and were 79/1 in 12 overs as Trott hit 38 balls 47 runs but reduced to 151/6 as Andre Russell took 4 wickets and then Wright took them to a fighting total of 243 runs with 44 runs.

West Indies got a flying start by Gayle who hit 21 balls 43 runs but Tredwell took 4 wickets and England were total control of the matc when Pollard out on 152/6 but Andre Russell hit 46 balls 49 runs and almost clinch the match but Swann took 2 wickets in an over and dramatically turned the match in favor of England.

AUS v CAN 2011 CWC 35th Match Result - Lee, Watson & Haddin put Australia on top with 7 wicket win


Australia moves on top in Group A with 9 points from 5 games as they beat Canada easily by 7 wickets with 91 balls remaining in the 35th match of 2011 Cricket World Cup, on Wednesday, 16th March, 2011 at Bangalore.

Canada was in good position with 150/2 in 28 overs as opener Patel hit 54 runs off 45 balls but Brett Lee took 4 wickets and bowled out them 211 in 45.4 overs. Australian openers then put 183 runs stand in 29 overs with Watson hit 94 runs and Haddin hit 88 runs.

SAF v IRE 2011 CWC 34th Match Result - South Africa reaches Quarter-Finals with 131 runs win


South Africa easily beat promising Ireland by 131 runs in 34th match of 2011 Cricket World Cup, and reaches in Quarter-Finals with top spot in Group B, on Tuesday, 15th March, 2011 at Kolkata.

South Africa was struggling art 117/5 due to good bowling but Ingram, playing his 1st match of WC put 87 runs with Duminy who hit brilliant 99 runs and helps them made 272/7. Ireland then lost regular wickets and bowled out on 141 runs in 33.2 overs as Morkel took 3 and Duminy took 2 wickets.

PAK v ZIM 2011 CWC 33rd Match Result - Gul, Asad stars in Pakistan's 7 wicket win


Pakistan beat Zimbabwe by 7 wickets with 23 balls remaining, in a rain hit 33rd match of 2011 Cricket World Cup, and moves to2nd place in Group A, on Monday, 14th March, 2011 at Pallekele.

Zimbabwe started poorly as they were 3-13 and Umar Gul took 3 wickets and rain also halt their progress and they managed only 151/7 in 39.4 overs when rain stop their inning. Pakistan got a revised target of 163 runs in 38 overs and reached it comfortably as Hafeez 49 runs and Asad Shafiq hit unbeaten 78 runs.

BAN v NED 2011 CWC 32nd Match Result - Spinners & Kayes stars in must 6 wicket win for Bangladesh


Bangladesh comfortably beat Netherlands and keep their quarter finals hope alive in a must win by 6 wickets with 52 balls remaining in the 32nd match of 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup on Monday, 14th March,at Chittagong.

Bangladesh restricted Holland on 160 runs in 46.2 overs thanks to great bowling by Abdur Razzak who took 3 wickets for 29 runs and Shafiul Islam given just 15 runs as only ten Doeschate hit unbeaten 53 runs. Bangladesh lost tamin in the first over but Imrul Kayes hit unbeaten 73 runs to cross the line.

IND v SAF 2011 CWC 29th Match Result - South Africa beat India by 3 wickets in a thriller


In a high profile 29th match between the two title contenders of 2011 Cricket World Cup, South Africa beat India by 3 wickets with 2 balls remaining in a high scoring thriller on Saturday, 12th March, 2011 at the packed stadium in Nagpur.

India got a great start by Sehwag 73 off 66 balls and Tendulkar, put 142 runs in 17.4 overs and were 267/1 in 39.4 overs as Tendulkar hit his 2nd century of this WC, and 99th international ton with 111 runs off 101 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes and put 125 runs for the 2nd wicket with Gambhir 69 runs but lost last 9 wickets in just 29 runs, India were looking for 350+ runs at one stage but all out on just 296 runs in 48.4 overs as Steyn took 5 wickets.

South Africa started cautiously after early loss of Smith by Zaheer as Amla 61 and Kallis 69 runs put 80 runs in 20 overs for the 2nd wicket. de Villiers 52 runs hit 52 runs in the batting power play and brought back South Africa in the match. BAN v ENG 2011 CWC 28th Match Result - Bangaldesh won by 2 wickets in a thriller


Bangladesh keep their World Cup Quarter-Finals hope alive with a 2 wicket win over England in the 28th match of CWC, and makes the Group B complicated on Friday, 11th March, 2011 at Chittagong.

England lost 3 early wickets and the Trott 67 and Morgan 63 put them back on track but Naeem, Razzak and Shakib took 2 wickets each and restricted them to 225 runs. WI v IRE 2011 CWC 27th Match Result - Pollard, Smith & Benn stars in West Indies 44 runs win


West Indies avoided an upset against giant killers Ireland and won the 27th match of 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, by 44 runs and moves to 2nd place in the points table on Friday, 11th March, 2011 at Mohali.

West Indies got a slow but steady start with 89 runs stand but lost quick wickets but Devon Smith hit maiden century with 107 runs and hard hitter Pollard hit 55 balls 94 runs with 8 fours an 5 sixes to set a competitive total of 275 runs.
