Sangakkara elected to bat first after winning the re-toss, as first one wasn't heard by referee, got a slow start as Zaheer bowled 3 consecutive maiden overs and took a wicket. They were 60-2 in 16 overs but 2 veterans, Sangakkara 48 runs and Jayawardhane brought them back in the match. They were struggling at 182/5 in 40 overs but Mahela played gem of a knock one of his best with unbeaten century 103* off just 88 balls with 13 fours and added 56 runs in 48 balls with Kulasekara who hit 30 balls 32 runs as they managed 63 runs in the power play as Perera hit 22 runs off just 9 balls.

India got a great start by openers Sehwag 38 and Tendulkar put 48 runs in 6 overs and they were on top with 116-1 in 19 overs but Wahab took 2 wickets in 2 balls to push them on back foot. Co-host Sri Lanka reached in the Final of 2011 Cricket World Cup, with a 5 wicket tense win over New Zealand with 13 balls remaining in the 1st Semi-Final on Tuesday, 29th March, 2011 at Colombo. South Africa's world cup tragedy continues, as they proved they are chokers when they lost to New Zealand by 49 runs in the 3rd Quarter-Final of the 2011 CWC, on Friday, 25th March, 2011 at Mirpur. New Zealand will now face the winner of Sri Lanka v England match in the 1st semifinal.
