Sri Lanka v England 2011 Cricket World Cup 4th QF Photos - Tilakratne Dilshan Man of Match

Sri Lanka easily beat England in the 4th QF by 10 wickets and Sri Lankan openers put 231 not out runs and this is the highest total chased without a single wicket lost in a World Cup match surpassing the 221 by West Indies against Pakistan in 1992. Tilakratne Dilshan got Man of the Match for his unbeaten 108* runs and 1 wicket.

Coo-host Sri Lanka passed strong signal to opponents with superb performance from both bat and ball as they beat England by 10 wickets with 63 balls remaining, in the 4th QF of 2011 CWC on Saturday, 26th March at Colombo. Sri Lanka will now take New Zealand in the 1st Semi-Final on Tuesday, 29th March at Colombo.

England after winning the toss got a bad start but Trott hit 86 runs put 91 runs for the 4th wicket with Morgan who hit 50 runs, but unable to scored quick runs even at the end due to good bowling by Sri Lanka bowlers as Murali took 2 wickets.

Sri Lankan openers then dominated and chased the runs without loosing any wickets as Dilshan hit 108* runs off 115 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes and Tharanga made 102 not out runs off 122 balls with 12 fours and a six.

England - 229/6 in 50 overs (Trott 86, Morgan 50, Muralitharan 2-54)

Sri Lanka - 231/0 in 39.3 overs (Dilshan 108*, Tharanga 102*)

SRL v ZIM 2010 CWC 26th Match Result - Dilshan stars in Sri Lanka's 139 runs win


Co-host Sri Lanka comfortably beat Zimbabwe 139 runs in the 26th match of 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, and moves on top in Group A on Thursday, 10th March, 2011 at Pallekelle.

Sri Lankan openers Dilshan and Tharanga created a new World Cup record with the 282 runs for the opening wicket hit 144 runs and 133 runs respectively and made 327/6 in 50 overs. Zimbabwe also got a good start with 116 runs Johnson made 80 runs but fquick wickets took the match away as Dilshan took 4 wickets for 4 runs.

Sri Lanka - 327/6 all out in 50 overs (Dilshan 144,Tharanga 133, Mpofu 4-62)

Zimbabwe - 188 all out in 39 overs (Taylor 80, Dilshan 4-4, Muralitharan 3-34)

IND vs SRL Tri-Series Final Result - Dilshan and Perera Stars in Sri Lanka's 74 runs win

Sri Lanka took the revenge of Asia Cup defeat last month as they beat India by 74 runs in the high scoring final of Micromax Tri Series on Saturday, 28th August, 2010 at Dambulla. SRL made 299/8 in 50 overs and IND all out on 225 runs in 46.5 overs.

Sri Lanka got the best opening partnership of the tournament of 121 runs in 20 overs on their way to post highest score of the series 299 runs thanks to Dilshan's superb century 110 runs off 115 balls with 12 fours and a six well supported by captain Sangakkara with 62 balls 71 runs. Only Munaf Patel and Yuvraj Singh bowled well with good economy rate.

India again then got a bad start as Karthik given out wrongly and lost 4 wickets on109 runs before Dhoni and Raina put some resistance. Perera again the destroyer with 3 wickets for 37 runs as only Dhoni put some fight with 67 runs.

Sri Lanka - 299/9 in 50 overs (Dilshan 110, Sangakkra 71, Munaf 2-43)

India - 225 all out in 46.5 overs (Dhoni 67, Perera 3-36, Randiv 3-40)

Tilakratne Dilshan hit his 6th ODI century as Sri Lanka comfortably won the opening game of tri-series against host Bangladesh on Monday, 4th January, 2009 at Mirpur. Bangladesh made 260-7 in 50 overs and Sri Lanka made 261-3 in 44.5 overs.

India vs Sri Lanka 5th ODI Photo Highlights - Ind v SL Fifth ODI Pictures, Images

Fifth and final ODI between India and Sri Lanka cancelled after 23.3 overs due to poor pitch at Feroz Sha Kotla Ground Delhi. Spectators got angry and damaged the ad banners in the ground.










5th ODI at Delhi abandoned - India won the series 3-1, Dilshan Man of the Series


Long series between host India and Sri Lanka ended in a sad manner as 5th and final ODI at Feroz Shah Kotla Ground, Delhi was abandoned due to poor and unplayable and dangerous nature of pitch.

There was uneven and unpredictable bounce and several deliveries hit Dilshan and Jayasuriya and match called off after 23.3 overs and Sri Lanka was struggling at 83/5. Zaheer Khan took 2 wickets.

Tilakratne Dilshan got Man of the Series award for his 353 runs in 5 innings with two centuries.

Tilakratne Dilshan's hit back to back century but this time helps Sri Lanka to win the 2nd ODI by 3 wickets in a high scoring thriller against India to level the 5 match series 1-1 at Nagpur on Friday, 18th December, 2009.

India made 301-7 in 50 overs thanks to captain Dhoni's 6th ODI century 107 runs, Raina 88 runs and kohli 54 runs. In reply Sri Lanka once again fought well but this time successfully chased the 300+ runs in the last over with 3 wickrts remaining.

India kept their nerve cool at the death overs and defended 414 run by just 3 runs to win the high scoring 1st ODI against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, 15th December, 2009 at Rajkot. India made 414-7 in 50 overs and restricted Sri Lanka on 411-8 in 50 overs.

India invited to bat first got a flying start by openers Sachin Tendulkar hit 69 runs and Sehwag who hit 146 runs off just 102 balls with 17 fours 6 sixes put 153 runs for the 1st wicket in 19.3 overs Dhoni also made 72 runs of 53 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes and helpe India to score their 2nd 400+ score.

Sri Lanka replied strongly and put 188 runs for the 1st wicket by Dilshan 160 runs of 124 balls with 20 fours and 3 sixes and Tharanga 67 runs. Sangakkra played a crucial inning of 90 runs in just 43 balls and took them to 316-1 in 36 overs but they collapsed to 345-5. Kandamby and Mathews put 56 in the ends but zaheer and Nehra bowled brilliantly in the end to clinch a thriller.
