India won 1st Test by 6 Wickets - Tendulkar's 41st Ton helps a Historic Win

In one of the most memorable and great inning by Sachin Tendulkar, his 41st tset century helps India to register a famous and historic win in the first test match against England at Chennai on Monday, 15th December, 2008. Tendulkar along with Yuraj who scored unbeaten 85 runs chased 287 runs in the 4th inning on 5th and final day of the match.

India moved away the fiery start given by Sehwag yesterday and started the 5th day with the fall of two quick wickets of Dravid failed again and Gambhir scored valuable 66 runs. Match was evenly poised when Laxman out and India still needed 163 runs with 6 wickets remaining.

But an unbeaten 5th wicket 163 runs partnership between Tendulkar and Yuraj set a historic win for India as it was the 4th highest 2nd inning chase by any team.

Tendulkar played a very composed inning on his way to 41st hundred 103 not out off 196 balls with 9 fours while Yuraj made 85 not out off 131 balls with 8 fours and a six on his comeback test.

Match Summary:

England 1st Inning - 316 all out in 128.4 overs.

India 1st Inning -
241 all out in 69.4 overs.

England 2nd Inning - 311/9 dec. in 105.5 overs.

India 2nd Inning -
387/4 in 98.3 overs.

India - 273/4 in 43.4 overs.

Toss - India, who chose to field first.

Result - India won by 6 wickets.

Man of The Match - Virendar Sehwag (India).

Series - India led the 2-match series 1-0.

England Team, Squad for Two Test Series aginst India

England is resumunig their tour of India for two test series after they returned home in between due to Mumbai Terror attack. England team is currently in Abu Dhabi for practice and only come to India on Sunday, 7th ecember, 2008 after security clearance from their security advisor Reg Dickason, who is currently in India.

England board selected 10 extra standby players if any of the 14 main player will refuse to go to India.

Indian Squad, Team for Two Test Series against England - Yuraj in

Indian selectors announced the team for the two test matche series against touring England on Thursday, 4th December, 2008. England returned to home after terrorist attack in Mumbai last week and hopefully they will be back to complete the series starting from 11th December, 2008 to 23rd December, 2008.

Inform batsman Yuraj Singh included in the team as the replacement for the retired Saurav Ganguly.
