Rain denied a deserving victory to India on the 5th day of the 3rd and final test match against New Zealand, but India recorded their first series triumph in 41 years, on Tuesday, 7th April 2009 at Wellington. India were just 2 wickets away from win when rain arrived on final day.

New Zealand started the day from 167/4 and overnight batsman Taylor and Franklin put a 142 runs partnership, contributed 107 and 49 runs respectively.

India should have blamed themselves for draw and 2-0 win due to poor fielding and late draw. Good thing is that, India ended their long wait of 41 years to win a Test series in New Zealand after Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi-led side drubbed the Kiwis 3-1 in 1968. India also won the 5 match ODI series by 3-1.

India set a target of 617 runs in the 2nd inning of the 3rd and final test on the 4th day and took New Zealand's 4 wicket before bad light stopped the play 21 overs earlier on Monday, 6th April, 2009 at Wellington. India leading the 3 match series by 1-0.

India started the day from 349/5 and scored quickly to pass the lead by 600 runs thanks to Dhoni's 56 and quickfire 40 off just 46 balls by Yuraj and set a impossible target of 617 runs.

New Zealand started poorly due to fine bowling by Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh took 2 wickets each but a 83 runs unbeaten partnership between Taylor and Franklin, playing on 69 runs and 26 runs respectively put hold on Indian victory.

Rahul Dravid has created record and become highest catch taker in the history of test cricket when he took the edge from Tim McIntosh off Zahher's ball and passed Mark Taylor's with 182 catches.

Gautam Gambhir run of form continues in the 2nd inning of 3rd and final test as his brilliant 167 runs put in the drivers seat at the stump of day 3 with a total lead of 531 runs against New Zealand on Sunday, 5th April, 2009 at Wellington.

India started 3rd day from 51/1 and batted posivetively as Dravid scored another half century with classy 60 runs, but the hero of the day was in form Gautam Gambhir who scored his 6th test century with 167 runs off 257 balls with 16 fours and 2 sixes to take India lead pass 500 run mark along with Laxman who contributed 61 runs.

Gambhir who played marathon inning in the last test to save the match but today he plays according to the demand and scored runs quickly to reach his consecetive centuries in the series. Gambhir is now highest scorer in the series with 445 runs with an average of 89.00.

New Zealand has a huge task ahead in order to save this test with 2 days remaining in the match. Daniel Vettori and O'Brien took 2 wickets each in the 2nd inning.

Hope India will give a target of around 600 runs early on the 4th day as Dhoni and Yuraj playing on 15 and 16 respectively. So Watch here for the final result as play start half an hour early tomorrow.

Zaheer Khan took 5 wickets on the 2nd day of 3rd and final test match as India took control in the match and moves closer to clinch the series in New Zealand as they bowled out host on 197 runs and took 182 runs 1st inning lead on Saturday, 4th April, 2009. India were 51/1 in 2nd inning with a total lead of 233 runs.

India started 2nd day from 375/9 and just 4 runs in 13 balls before all out on 379 runs in 1st inning. Then they pushed New Zealand thanks to superb bowling by Zaheer who took 5 wickets and well supported by Harbhajan Singh who took 3 wickets.

New Zealand surrendered against disciplined bowling by Indian bowlers and Ross Taylor resisted with 42 runs.

India scored 375 runs at the stump of day 1 against New Zealand in the 3rd and final test math against New Zealand on Fiday, 3rd April, 2009 at at Basin Reserve, Wellington. Tendulkar, Dhoni and Harbhajan scored half centuries. Tendulkar also contributed 62 runs of just 5 balls with 11 fours as tailenders score 175 runs.

India started well with 1st wicket stand of 73 runs between Sehwag and Gambhir and they were 165/2 at one stage but 3 quick wickets put them on back foot. But a 79 runs 7th wicket partnership between Harbhajn and Dhoni scored 60 and 52 runs respectively put India back in the game

New Zealand took control at one stage bot lost momentum in the end. Martin took 3 wicket as Southee and O'Brien took 2 wickets each.

3rd and final test match between host New Zealand and India will be played from Friday, 3rd April, 2009 in the cold weather of Basin Reserve, Wellington.India leading the 3 match series by 1-0.

India is on the verge of historic series win in New Zealand after 41 years as they only need a draw to clinch the series. They are feeling high after saving the 2nd test at Napier last week after follow-on. Gambhir, Dravid, Tendulkar and Lxman are in great form to take the series.

New Zealand on the other hand bounced back well in the 2nd test after defeat in 1st test, but not able to finish. They have a huge task ahead as they recalled Southee and Flynn is back from Injury.

Gautam Gambhir batted whole day , 3 sessions and 107 overs on the way for his fifth century, first abroad to lead a fight back with 102 runs on Sunday, 29th March at McLean Park, Napier after India's follow-on. India now trailing by 62 runs with 8 wickets in hand 1 day remaining in the 2nd test.

India started the 4th day with a huge task, trailing by 267 runs with 9 wickets, but Darvid and Gambhir gave a solid platform with a partnership of 133 runs before Dravid given out by umpiring error on 62 runs. Then Tendulkar and Gambhir put unbeaten 89 runs partnership and finished the day with unbeaten 58 runs and 102 runs respectively.

New Zealand bowled with discipline on a easy batting track given only 205 runs but unable to take wickets shows the determination with which India batted to save the match.

So what happen tomorrow?, Will India survive? or New Zealand will bounce back?, Watch out tomorrow for the 5th and final day.

New Zealand took a full control of the match as they bowled out India on 305 runs in the 1st inning with a lead of 314 runs and forced follow-on and again took Sehwag's wicket leaving visitors a huge task to save second test match with 2 days to go.

India started the 3rd day +vely as Dravid who scored 83 runs put a partnership of 87 runs with Tendulkar, scored 49 runs and then 80 runs partnership with VVS Laxman scored 76 runs. India lost their last 4 wickets for just 35 runs as Yuraj Singh out for duck and bundled out for 305 runs.

Vettori has not hesitation of follow-on and rewarded back with the wicket of dangerous Sehwag again out cheaply. India struggling on 47/1 at the stump of day 3 trailing by 267 runs.

New Zealand bounced back strongly after reduced to 23/3 on the first day of second test match and took total control with 351/4 against India at the stumps of day1 at McLean Park, Napier on Thursday, 26th March, 2009. Ross Taylor and Jesse Ryder scored 151 and 137 not out respectively.

New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first and was struggling at 23/3 in 10 overs but a superb 271 runs fourth wicket partnership between Taylor and Ryder scored 151 off just 204 balls with 26 fours and a six and 137 not out off 220 ball with 17 fours and a six, put hosts in a strong position at the end of day 1.

India has been disappointing after a good start by Zaheer and Ishanth took 2 and 1 wickets each but they lost the momentum after a superb stand by Ryder and Taylor.

India after wining the first test at Hamilton last week is now looking for historic series win after 41 years in New Zealand as the second test match will be played from Thursday, 26th March to Monday, 30th March 2009 at McLean Park, Napier from 10:00 local, 22:00 GMT. India clearly looking strong and the proved in 1st test as their bowlers and batsmen outperformed hosts. They will probably retain the winning team as Tendulkar, Gambhir, Dravid, Seheag and Dhoni batting well while Zaheer, Ishanth, Munaf and Harbhajan bowling beautifully.

New Zealand have all the pressure to level the series and make it alive before going to final test. They have to perforn extraordinary to bounce back in the series in all the department. Oram is out due to injury and Jamie How will be in if Daniel Flynn won't recover from injury.

India finally ended the 33 years drought of winning a test match in New Zealand as they won the first test match by 10 wickets on the 4th day of the match at Hamilton on Saturday, 21st March, 2009. India now leading the 3 match series by 1-0.

New Zealand started the 4th day, trailing by 166 runs from India's 1st inning with 7 wickets in hand. They were in danger of inning defeat due to wicket falls at regular intervals but 76 runs 9th wicket partnership between McCullum and O'Brien, scored 84 runs and 21 runs helped them pass India's total. They all out on the same score of 1st inning 279 and gave a target of 39 runs.

Harbhajan took 6 wickets, his best figures oversease. India reached the target of 39 runs in 32 balls with lot of fours from Gambhir and Dravid scored 30 and 8 runs respectively.

Two superb centuries from New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori and Jesse Ryder pulled host from 60/6 to a respectable total of 279 runs on the 1st day of the first test match against India on Wednesay, 18th March at Hamilton.

India won the toss and elected to bowl first and pushed back New Zealand to 60/6 thanks to fine bowling by seamers Zaheer, Ishanth and Munaf Patel took 2 and 3 wickets each respectively.

New Zealand struggling on 60/6 at lunch fought back well thanks to 7th wicket record partnership of 186 runs between captain Vettori and Ryder scored 118 runs with 14 fours and 2 sixes and 102 runs respectively.

India started well and scored 29 runs without loss with Sehwag on 22 and Gambhir on 6 not out respectively. Watch out the Indian inning on the 2nd day of 1st test.

New Zealand beat India by 8 wickets in the 5th and final ODI to take some pride as they already lost the 5 match series by 3-1 on Saturday, 14th March, 2009 at Auckland. India bowled out on 149 in 36.3 overs and New Zealand easily reached the target in 23.2 overs.
