Indian Team, Squad for T20 & ODI against West Indies - Gambhir captain, Badrinath, Parthiv, Rohit & Ishant Sharma in

Indian selectors have announced team for the upcoming tour of West Indiea for the only T20 and 5 match ODI Series under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir as Dhoni, Tendulkar, Sehwag, Zaheer and Nehera are either injured or rested. Gautam Gambhir have prior captaincy experience when he led 5-0 series win over New Zealand last year.

Selectors have considered Ranji performance and ignored ongoing IPL form and rewarded Badrinath, Rohit Sharma and Parthive Patel all done well in domestic season while ignored Rayudu, Valthaty, Iqbal Abdullah and Rahul Sharma.

Paveen Kumar who missed World Cup back in place of Zaheer while Ishant Sharma replaces Nehra and Vinay Kumar in place of Sreesanth. Amit Mishra picked ahead of Pragyan Ojha while Piyush Chawla ignored due to out of form.

Wriddhiman Saha will be the other keeper while Yusuf Pathan, Suresh Raina and Munaf Patel have retained their places.

India make a complete white wash in 5 match series after winning the final one day by 8 wickets with 173 balls remaining. Yuvraj Singh got Man of the Match for his 2 wickets and unbeaten 42 runs while Gautam Gambhir got Man of the Series for scoring 329 runs at an average of 109.66 with 2 centuries.

India won the 5 match series by 3-0 with 2 matches to go after winning the 3rd one day easily by 9 wickets. Gautam Gambhir got another Man of the Match for his 2nd successive century of the series. Zaheer Khan took 2 wickets after returning from injury.

Gautam Gambhir's form continues as he hit successive century to help India won the third match by 9 wickets with 63 balls remaining and won the series by 3-0 with 2 games to go against New Zealand on Saturday, 4th December, 2010 at Baroda. NZL made 224/9 in 50 overs and IND made 229/1 in 39.3 overs.

New Zealand got a poor start as Zaheer Khan took the wicket of Brandon McCullum, both returns from injury and they lost regular wickets and struggling at 106/7 but Franklin 72* and Nathan McCullum 43 helps them to put a respecting total of 224/9. Zaheer Khan, R Ashwin and Yususf Pathan took 2 wickets each.

India again got a good start as Gambhir and Vijay 30 put 115 runs opening partnership and then with Kohli 63 put another 114 runs to seal the victory. Gautam Gambhir hit ceonsecetive century of the series with unbeaten 126 runs off 117 balls with 16 fours.

New Zealand - 224/9 in 50 overs (Franklin 72, Zaheer 2-31, Pathan 2-27)

Stand-in captain Gautam Gambhir hit his 8th ODI century with unbeaten 138 runs as India comfortably beat New Zealand by 8 wickets with 42 balls remaining in the 2nd one day and took a lead of 2-0 in 5 match series.

Gautam Gambhir is back in form with an unbeaten century as India comfortably chased 258 runs and won the 2nd one day by 8 wickets against New Zealand on Wednesday, 1st December, 2010 at Jaipur. NZL made 258/8 in 50 overs and IND made 259/2 in 43 overs.

New Zealand put a competitive total of 258/8 thanks to 70 runs by opener Guptill and 59 runs by Scott Styris with quick runs by Vettori & Mills in the end as Sreessanth took 4 wickets. In reply India got a good start with 87 runs partnership for the opening wicket by Vijay 33 and Gambhir. Gambhir then put 116 runs for the 2nd wicket with Kohli 64, on his way to his 8th one day century with unbeaten 138 runs off 116 balls with 18 fours and set an easy 8 wicket win with 42 balls remaining and takes 2-0 lead in the 5 match series.

Indian selectors announced 15-member squad for upcoming test series against New Zealand starting from 4th, November, 2010 at Ahmedabad. Gautam Gambhir, VVs Laxman and Ishant Sharma all missed the 2nd test against Australia due to injury are back in team while Cheteshwar Pujara and M Vijay played brilliantly in the 2nd test, retained thier place.

This is a good sign for India as they have good promising youngster are in line to fulfill any players due to retirement or injury.

In a thrilling 4th match of Asia Cup 2010, India beat arch rival Pakistan on the 2nd last ball by 3 wickets on Saturday, 19th June, 2010 at Dambulla. Pak all out on 267 runs in 49.3 overs and Ind made 271/7 in49.5 overs.

Pakistan won the toss elected to bat first made 267 runs thanks to 74 runs by opener Salman Butt well supported by Malik 39 and Afridi 32 runs but Kamran Akmal hit quickfire in the end with 41 balls 51 runs to set a competitive total.

India lost Sehwag early but Gambhir hit 83 runs and put 98 runs with Dhoni who hit 56 runs and they were 180/2 in 35 overs but few quick wickets put them in backfoot but then Raina hit 27 balls 34 runs before out in the last over with 6 runs required in 4 balls and Harbhajan hit a six on the 2nd last ball to seal a thrilling win.

Pakistan - 267 all out in 49.3 overs (Salman 74, Kamran 51, Kumar 3-53, Zaheer 2-41)

India comfortably beat Bangladesh by 6 wickets with 19.2 overs remaining in the 2nd ODI of Asia Cup 2010 on Wednesday, 16th June, 2010 at Dambulla. Ban bowled out on 167 runs in 34.5 overs and Ind made 168/4 in 30.4 overs.

Bangladesh started well by Tamim and Kayes and they were 81/1 in 13 overs but after spinners introduced they slumped to 167 all out as Sehwag took 4 wickets for just 6 runs in 3 overs. India then chased the runs in 30.4 overs and won a bonus point thanks to back in form Gautam Gambhir hit 82 runs and Dhoni hit unbeaten 38 runs.

India succefully chased 315 runs in the 4th ODI against Sri Lanka thanks to brilliant centuries by Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli and won the match by 7wickets with 11 balls remaining and won the 5 match series by 3-1 on Thursday, 4th December, 2009 at Edens Garden Kolkata.

Sri Lanka made 315-6 in 50 overs thanks to century by opener Upul Tharanga 118 runs and Sangakkara's 60 runs. India then lost openers early but the Gambhir and Kohli put 24 runs in 35 overs scored unbeaten 150* runs off 137 balls with 14 fours and 107 runs off 114 balls with 11 fours and a six.

Sri Lanka - 315/6 in 50 overs (Tharanga 118, Sangakkara 60, Zaheer 2-49)

Ceat International Cricket Aeard - Gambhir Cricketer of the year, Sehwag ODI Batsman


Indian in form batsman Gautam Gambhir won the International cricketer of the year as well as test batsman of the year award in a gala event of Ceat International cricket Awards on Sunday, 29th November, 2009 at Mumbai.

Gambhir scored 4 consecutive centuries in last 4 matches and he is in great form during 2008-09 season. Hard hitter nad Gamghir's opening partner Virender Sehwag won the ODI batsman of the year award.

Australian Mitchel Johnson won the test bowler of the year award while Sri Lankan spinner Ajantha Mendis won the ODI Bowler of the year award.

Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh won a special award by taking 300 test wickets. Sri Lanka batsman Thilan Samaraweera who got injured in the Lahore terror attack in March won the International Spirit of Cricket award.

Lifetime Achievement award has given to EAS Prasanna of India by cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar.

India registered their 100th test win with a style as they won the 2nd test match by an inning and 144 runs on the 4th day itself on Friday, 27th November, 2009 at Kanpur. Sreesanth won the Man of the Match award. India is leading the 3 match series by 1-0.

India needed six wickets on the 4th day and started well with Mathew gone early but Prasanna and Samarweera put 61 runs before Mendis gave frustraion with his 75 ball innings. Samarweera left with short of partners as he was not out on 78 runs.

Rain denied a deserving victory to India on the 5th day of the 3rd and final test match against New Zealand, but India recorded their first series triumph in 41 years, on Tuesday, 7th April 2009 at Wellington. India were just 2 wickets away from win when rain arrived on final day.

New Zealand started the day from 167/4 and overnight batsman Taylor and Franklin put a 142 runs partnership, contributed 107 and 49 runs respectively.

India should have blamed themselves for draw and 2-0 win due to poor fielding and late draw. Good thing is that, India ended their long wait of 41 years to win a Test series in New Zealand after Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi-led side drubbed the Kiwis 3-1 in 1968. India also won the 5 match ODI series by 3-1.

Match Summary:

India 1st Inning - 379 all out in 92.1 overs.

New Zealand 1st Inning -197 all out in 65 overs.

India 2nd Inning -434/7 dec. in 116 overs.

New Zealand 2nd Inning - 281/8 in 94.3 overs.

Gautam Gambhir run of form continues in the 2nd inning of 3rd and final test as his brilliant 167 runs put in the drivers seat at the stump of day 3 with a total lead of 531 runs against New Zealand on Sunday, 5th April, 2009 at Wellington.

India started 3rd day from 51/1 and batted posivetively as Dravid scored another half century with classy 60 runs, but the hero of the day was in form Gautam Gambhir who scored his 6th test century with 167 runs off 257 balls with 16 fours and 2 sixes to take India lead pass 500 run mark along with Laxman who contributed 61 runs.

Gambhir who played marathon inning in the last test to save the match but today he plays according to the demand and scored runs quickly to reach his consecetive centuries in the series. Gambhir is now highest scorer in the series with 445 runs with an average of 89.00.

New Zealand has a huge task ahead in order to save this test with 2 days remaining in the match. Daniel Vettori and O'Brien took 2 wickets each in the 2nd inning.

Hope India will give a target of around 600 runs early on the 4th day as Dhoni and Yuraj playing on 15 and 16 respectively. So Watch here for the final result as play start half an hour early tomorrow.
