IND v WI 1st ODI Result - Rohit stars in India's 4 wicket win


In the first one day of the 5 match series, world champions India easily beat host West Indies by 4 wickets with 31 balls remaining on Monday, 6th June, 2011 at Port of Spain. WI made 214/9 in 20 overs and IND made 217/6 in 44.5 overs.

West Indies after winning the toss lost 2 early wickets on 28 runs but Sarwan and Samuels hit 56 and 55 runs respectively at a slow pace due to tight bowling by Bhajji who took 3 wickets for 32 runs and there was no fire work in the end and they managed only 214/9. Praveen, Munaf and Raina took 2 wickets each.

India also lost 2 wickets early but opener Shikhar Dhawan hit 51 runs and when they struggling at 104/4, Rohit Sharma hit unbeaten 68 runs and well supported by captain Raina with 43 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Match Summary:

West Indies - 214/9 in 50 overs (Sarwan 56, Samuel 55, Harbhajan 3-32)

India - 217/6 in 44.5 overs (Rohit 68*, Dhawan 51, Martin 2-39)

Toss - West Indies, who chose to bat first.

Result - India won by 4 wickets (with 31 balls remaining)

Series - India led the 5-match series 1-0.

First of the 5 match series between host West Indies and World Champions India will be played on Monday, 6th June, 2011 at Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad, in a day game and timing will be 13:00 GMT, 9:00 local, 18:30 IST.

This is the first one day India playing after winning WorldCup but most of the players of winning team is missing either for injury or rested. They started their tour well with a win in T2o under new captain Suresh Raina. They will probably go with the same team as Badrinath and Rohit done well but others also need to perform in bigger format.

West Indies surely missing Chris Gayle at the top of the order as he is in such a great form and also miss Pollard. Darren Bravo made a slow 41 runs but give good support to the middle order while Barnwell played some big shots in the end.

India started their tour with a win as they beat West Indies in the only Twenty match by 16 runs. Badrinath got Man of the Match for his match winning 43 runs.













IND v WI Only T20 Result - Badrinath stars as India won by 16 runs


India won the one-off twenty match by 16 runs against host West Indies comfortably on Saturday, 4th June, 2011 at Port of Spain. IND made 159/6 in 20 overs and WI made 143/5 in 20 overs.

India invited to bat first lost Dhawan early and when they reached 48 runs in 7 overs lost Parthiv Patel who hit 26 runs and Kohli and soon struggling at 56/4 in 9 overs as Darren Sammy took 4 wickets for just 16 runs. Badrinath 43 runs and Rohit Sharma 26 runs then put 71 runs in 9 overs while Pathan and Bhajji hit quickfire unbeaten 15 runs each to lift the score to 159 runs.

West Indies lost 2 wickets on 22 runs and reached 88/2 but wasted too many overs as they reached there in 15 overs with Bravo ht run a ball 41 runs. In the end Barnwell hit 16 balls 34 runs but it was tooo late and lost the match by 16 runs.

India - 159/6 in 20 overs (Badrinath 43, Rohit 26, Sammy 4-16)

West Indies - 143/5 in 20 overs (Bravo 41, Barnwell 34, Bhajji 2-25)

Toss - West Indies, who chose to bowl first.

The only twenty-20 match between India and host West Indies will be played on Saturday, 4th June, 2011 at Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad, in a day game and the timing will be 14:00 GMT, 10:00 local, 19:30 IST.

India is playing their first match after lifting World Cup 2 months back but will be without key players like Tendulkar, Sehwag, Gambhir, Zaheer and Yuvraj either rested or injured while Suresh Raina will lead the team. Kohli, Pathan and Rohit Sharma are certain in the playing 11 while Badrinath, Shikhar Dhawan and Manoj Tiwary share the 2 available places for batsmen. Ishant Sharma may get a chance with Praveen Kumar and Munaf Patel.

West Indies will be without their hard hitter Chris Gayle and looking weakened butreturn of Kieron Pollard will boost them. Sammy, Rampaul and Bishoo done well against Pakistan last month.

India v Sri lanka 2011 Cricket World Cup Final Photos - Dhoni Man of Match, Yuvraj Man of the Series

All Indians dream comes true when captain MS Dhoni a hit a stunning 6 to clinch a thrilling victory and won the Cricket World Cup after 28 years, beat Sri Lanka in the final by 6 wickets with 10 balls remaining.

MS Dhoni got Man of the Match for his brilliant 79 ball 91 not out runs, while Yuvraj Singh got Man of the Tournament for his 362 runs and 15 wickets. BCCI has announced Rs. 1 Crore for every Indian team member for winning the World Cup.
