IND v WI 2nd ODI Result - Amit Mishra & Kohl stars in India's 7 wick win in rain hit match


In a rain shortened second ODI , India easily beat host West Indies by 7 wickets with 20 balls remaining on Wednesday, 8th June, 2011 at Port of Spain. WI made 240/9 in 50 overs and IND made 183/3 in 33.4 overs overs.

West Indies got a good start by Simmons 53 and Edwards 25 runs and they were 175/2 in 36 overs as Sarwan also hit 56 runs, however they lost 4 wickets for just 5 runs in the power play and they were struggling at 197/7 bu captain Sammy took them to a competitive total of 240 with 19 ball 22 runs. Amit Mishra bowled superbly with 31-4 getting good turn while Munaf Patel also bowled well for his 3-35.

In reply, India lost Dhawan early but Parthiv and Kohli put 120 runs in 25 overs scored 56 runs and 81 runs respectively. Match was hit by several rain intervals and match shortened to 37 overs with a revised target of 183 runs by D/L method and Raina 26* and Rohit 7* comfortably cross the line with 20 balls remaining and take a 2-0 lead in 5 match series.

West Indies - 240/9 in 50 overs (Sarwan 56, Simmons 53, Mishra 4-31, Munaf 3-35)

India - 183/3 in 33.4 overs (Kohli 81, Partiv 56, Rampaul 1-32)

Result - India won by 7 wickets (with 20 balls remaining)

Series - India led the 5-match series 2-0.

IND vs WI 2nd ODI Preview at Port of Spain - India v West Indies Second One Day Teams


India and host West Indies will meet in the 2nd one day international on Wednesday, 8th June, 2010 at Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad, in a day game starting from 13:00 GMT, 9:00 local, 18:30 IST. India leading the 5 match series by 1-0.

Second string Indian team doing well by winning the only T20 and the 1st ODI under the captaincy of Suresh Raina. Rohit Sharma played well while opener Dhawan proving his selection by hitting 51 runs. Harbhajan is leading the bowling attack in the absence of Zaheer while Ashwin may return in place of Amit Mishra.

West Indies is surely missing hard hitters Chris Gayle and Pollard as Sarwan and Samuels contributed with half centuries however no one there in the end to accelerate the inning. Ravi Rampaul is bowling well and getting good support from Sammy, Martin and Bishoo.

IND v WI 1st ODI Result - Rohit stars in India's 4 wicket win


In the first one day of the 5 match series, world champions India easily beat host West Indies by 4 wickets with 31 balls remaining on Monday, 6th June, 2011 at Port of Spain. WI made 214/9 in 20 overs and IND made 217/6 in 44.5 overs.

West Indies after winning the toss lost 2 early wickets on 28 runs but Sarwan and Samuels hit 56 and 55 runs respectively at a slow pace due to tight bowling by Bhajji who took 3 wickets for 32 runs and there was no fire work in the end and they managed only 214/9. Praveen, Munaf and Raina took 2 wickets each.

India also lost 2 wickets early but opener Shikhar Dhawan hit 51 runs and when they struggling at 104/4, Rohit Sharma hit unbeaten 68 runs and well supported by captain Raina with 43 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Match Summary:

West Indies - 214/9 in 50 overs (Sarwan 56, Samuel 55, Harbhajan 3-32)

India - 217/6 in 44.5 overs (Rohit 68*, Dhawan 51, Martin 2-39)

IND vs WI 1st ODI Preview at Port of Spain - India v West Indies First One Day Teams

First of the 5 match series between host West Indies and World Champions India will be played on Monday, 6th June, 2011 at Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad, in a day game and timing will be 13:00 GMT, 9:00 local, 18:30 IST.

This is the first one day India playing after winning WorldCup but most of the players of winning team is missing either for injury or rested. They started their tour well with a win in T2o under new captain Suresh Raina. They will probably go with the same team as Badrinath and Rohit done well but others also need to perform in bigger format.

West Indies surely missing Chris Gayle at the top of the order as he is in such a great form and also miss Pollard. Darren Bravo made a slow 41 runs but give good support to the middle order while Barnwell played some big shots in the end.
