New Zealand beat India by 8 wickets in the 5th and final ODI to take some pride as they already lost the 5 match series by 3-1 on Saturday, 14th March, 2009 at Auckland. India bowled out on 149 in 36.3 overs and New Zealand easily reached the target in 23.2 overs.


India won the toss and elected to bat first and played poorly as every one throwing their wicket and ll out on 149 runs in 36.3 overs of the 43 over match due to late start.

New Zealand reached the target with 151/2 in 23.2 overs thanks to fine hitting by Jesse Ryder and Guptill scored 63 off 49 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes and 57 not out off 50 balls respectively.

New Zealand - 151/2 in 23.2 overs.

After the series has been decided as India already won the 5 match ODI series by 3-0 with one match to go and 1 match abandoned due to rain, the 5th and final ODI between India and New Zealand is a dead rubber will be played on Saturday, 14th March, 2009 at Eden Park, Auckland in a day-night game starting from 14:00 local, 01:00 GMT.

India will likely to use others player like Rohit Sharma, Dinesh karthik, Ojha and Yusuf Pathan in the absence of injured Sachin endulkar. India will likely to end the series with a win and looking for a clean sweep ahead of crucial test series.

Sehwag's 74 balls 125 runs sealed India's Series won vs New Zealand


A fiery inning of 125 runs off just 74 balls with 14 fours and 6 sixes helped not only to win the 4th ODI but also sealed series win by 3-0 for India after a long time in New Zealand on Wednesday, 11th March, 2009 at Hamilton. India won the match by 84 runs under Duckworth-Lewis method in a rain interrupted game.

New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first scored 270 runs in 47 overs in a rain shorten match thanks to McCullum and McGlashan scored 77 and 56 not out respectively.

In reply, Sehwag made fastest century by an Indian and the seventh fastest in one-day international history which comes in just 60 balls. In the absence of injured Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir stepped into the opener's role and added 63 runs and put 201 runs unbeaten partnership in just 23.3 overs when rain interrupted for the final time.

India - 201/0 in 23.3 overs.

Fourth ODI of the 5 match series between India and New Zealand will be played on Wednesday, 11th March, 2009 at Seddon Park, Hamilton in a day-night game starting from 14:00 local, 01:00 GMT. India leading the 5 match series by 2-0 after 3 matches.

India is playing superbly specially thier batsmen including Tendulkar Gambhir, Sehwag, Yuraj, Dhoni, Raina and Yusuf. But las match hero Tendulkar will not be available in the 4th ODI due tto injury during the marathon inning of 163 runs in the last ODI, Rohit Sharma or Irfan Pathan will replace him.
