First ODI of 5 match series between India and host Sri Lanka will be played on on Wednesday, 28th January, 2009 at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in a Day-Night game from 14.30 local and 9.00 GMT.

India is looking strong in batting as Tendulkar and Sehwag is back in team as they missed last series against Sri Lanka which India won by 3-2. Tendulkar will face mystery bowler Ajantha Mendis 1st time. Gautam Gambhir will come 1 down as Sehwag and Tendulkar will open the inning.

Sri Lanka after won the series coming from behind against Pakistan is high on confidence as Tilkaratne Dilshan is in great form. Sri Lanka will highly depend on spinner duo of Muralitharan and Ajantha Mendis.

India vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI Preview - 28th Januart at Dambulla

In order to compensate cancelled tour of Pakistan, India is going to play 5 ODI and 1 T20 in Sri Lanka as 1st ODI will be played on Wednesday, 28th January, 2009 at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in a Day-Night game from 14.30 local and 9.00 GMT.

India last played ODI series against England two months back and won by 5-0 of the 7 match series shortened due Mumbai terror attack. They also won the 5 match ODI series played in July 2008 by 3-2 so they are in high confidence as all batsman are in great form.

Sri Lanka recently won the 3 match ODI series by 2-1 against Pakistan after losing the 1st ODI by 8 wickets. Tilakratne Dilshan is in great form and spinner duo of Muralitharan and Mendis will be big danger for Indians.

Hope to see a great and thrilling series of two good and well balance ODI teams.
