IND v SAF 2nd ODi Result - Munaf Patel stars in India's thrilling 1 run win


In a low scoring thrilling match, India won the match by just 1 run and level the 5 match series 1-1 on Saturday, 15th January, 2011 a Johannesburg. IND all out on 190 runs in 47.2 overs and SAF all out on 189 runs in 43 overs.

India elected to bat first and got a slow start after early wicket of Vijay but they reduced to 67-3 after 19 overs and then 83 runs partnership between Yuvraj (53) and Dhoni (38) put them in comfortable position before they lost 6 wickets for 21 runs thanks to brilliant bowling by Tsotsobe took 4-22. In reply South Africa got a good start and they were 66-1 after 12 overs but regular wickets brought back into the match and when Smith out on 77 runs and match was balanced but Munaf took 2 wickets in an over to give India a thrilling 1 run victory.

Match Summary:

India - 190 all out in 47.2 overs (Yuvraj 53, Tsotsobe 4-22, Morkel 2-32)

South Africa - 189 all out in 43 overs (Smith 77, Patel 4-29, Zaheer 2-37)

After one sided opening game, in which South Africa crushed India by 135 runs, both teams will meet again in the 2nd one day on Saturday, 15th January, 2011 at New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg in day-night game starting from 12:30 GMT, 14:30 local, 18:00 IST. South Africa leading the 5 match series by 1-0.

India has to win this game in order to bounce back and level the series, only Virat Kohli put some fight in the last game and now they want Tendulkar to give good opening and more important some runs from Yuvraj, Rohit and Dhoni in the middle and they has to include Yusuf Pathan in the playing 11 to give more depth in batting and bowling.

South Africa easly beat India by a huge amount with 135 runs win in the1st ODI thanks to good show by batsman and bowlers. AB de Villiers got Man of the Match award for his 76 runs.

In an one sided 1st one day, host South Africa crushed India by 135 runs and takes the 1-0 lead in the 5 match series on Wednesday, 12th January, 2011 at Durban. SAF made 289/9 in 50 overs and IND all out on 154runs in 35.4 overs.

South Africa won the toss lost 2 wickets early but Amla hit 36 balls 50 runs and then AB de Viiliers and JP Duminy put 131 runs in 22 overs made 76 and 73 runs respectively and Guided them to a tough total of 289/9. India then lost openers early but lost wickets regularly due to good bowling by Morkel (2-12), Steyn (2-29) and Tsotsobe (4-31) bowled out visitors cheaply on 154 runs even though Kohli fight with 54 runs.

AB deVilliers got Man of the Match for his 69 balls 76 runs with 7 fours and a six.

After fighting longest version and one sided shortest versions, its now time for limited over series as first One Day of the 5 match series between host South Africa and India will be played on Wednesday, 12th January, 2010 at Kingsmead, Durban in a day-night game and timing will be 12:30 GMT, 14:30 local, 18:00 IST.

India is high in confidence after winning the only T20 comfortably and they will definitely miss Sehwag and Gambhir but the return of Zaher Khan and Tendulkar, who is playing first one day after scoring record breaking double century in Gwaliar against South Africa only will boost them to take lead in the series. R Ashwin and Munaf Patel will fight for the final spot depending upon the pitch.

Makhaya Ntini played his last match for South Africa, but they lost the match as India easily won the match by 21 runs thanks to Man of the Match for Rohit Sharma for his 53 runs.

India won the one-off twenty20 match comfortably by 21 runs against host South Africa, as they were unable to give winning fare well to star bowler Makhaya Ntini playinh his last match for country on Sunday, 9th January, 2011 at Durban. IND made 168/6 in 20 over and SAF made 147/9 in 20 overs.

India got a good start by Kohli (28) and Rohit Sharm, hit 34 balls 53 runs with 5 fours and 2 sixes and in the end Raina hit 23 balls 41 runs with 2 fours and 3 sixes to set a competitive total. South Africa then lost 2 wickets early but van Wyk hit 38 balls 67 runs and put host on top at one stage but didn' get any support from others and spinners brought back quick wickets to win the match.

5th and final day of the 3rd test match was an anti-climax as ended in a draw without any fight from both side and they were happy to share the series with 1-1. India needed 340 runs and South Africa needed in 90 overs, as India started cautiously and gone more slow after early exit of Sehwag as managed only 53 runs in 1st session and finished on 166/3 with Gautam Gambhir managed 64 runs. South African bowlers managed 1 wickets in each session as none of the bowler was threatening.

Jacque Kallisgot Man of the Match for his 2 brilliant centuries in each inning as well as Man of the Series for 498 runs at an average ogf 166.00 with 3 centuries including maiden double century.

Jacques Kallis once again proved he is the best all rounder in the history of cricket by hitting brilliant 2nd century of the match with unbeaten 109* runs on the 4th day and helps to set a tough target of 340 runs for India on the 5th and final day. South Africa were struggling on 130/6 at one stage but Kallis 103 runs with Boucher (55) and then 54 runs with Steyn (32) and 46 runs with Harris (28) to save South Africa.
