Duncan Fletchet named as new Indian Coach for 2 years

Indian selectors has appointed former England coach and former Zimbabwe captain Duncan Fletcher as new Indian Cricket team coach to succeed Gary Kirsten. He has appointed for 2 years by the BCCI in a meeting held in Mumbai, on Wednesday, 27th April, 2011.

62 year old, Duncan Fletcher will not be available for the tour of West Indies starting in June, but available for the important tour of England in July. BCCI also extended bowling coach Eric Simons contract for 2 years.

Duncan Fletcher was the person behind England Success in test matches they beat Australia in 2005 to win the Ashes first time since 1985. but he was unable to transform England's ODI form as England won 42 and lost 30 Tests with Fletcher in charge but their ODI form wasn't as good - winning 75 and losing 82.

He was England's first foreign coach and took over in 1999; soon enough, he oversaw Test series wins in Sri Lanka and Pakistan, though Australia thrashed England 4-1 in the Ashes in 2001. Later, with Vaughan, he helped England win their first Test series in South Africa post apartheid and the pair played a critical role in moulding a team that was to win the Ashes in 2005.
