IND vs SAF 3rd Test Preview at Cape Town - India v South Africa Third Test Teams

The much talked series between two top tests teams India and South Africa comes to the final 3rd test and best thing is that it will be a decider as series is currently level at 1-1 as third test will starting from Sunday, 2nd January, 2011 at Newlands, Cape Town and the timing will be 08:30 GMT, 10:30 local, 14:00 IST.

India bounced back strongly after inning lost in the 1st test with 87 runs in 2nd test to level the series mainly thanks to VVS Laxman who was the only batsman who made half century and their bowlers. Cape Town wicket supposed to be batting friendly and it is a good chance for them to put some runs on board specially Sehwag and Dravid as they still to play with their reputation and if Gambhir will return they have good batting strength. Zaheer Khan is in good touch while Harbhajan is also taking wickets.

South Africa
has been disappointed as they missed a good chance to win the series after brilliant show in 1st test. They have to improve their as Ashell Prince was the highest scorer with 39 runs in the 2nd inning. Dale Steyn, Morne Morkal and Tsotsobe are doing well and if supported by their batsmen they will have upper hand.

India vs South Africa 2nd Test Photos, Images - VVS Laxman Man of the Match

India bounced back strongly after inning defeat in centurion with a hard fought 87 runs win in the 2nd test match at Durban on 4th day to level the 3 match series 1-1 and now the 3rd test at Cape Town from 2nd January will be a decider. VVS Laxman got Man of the Match for his brilliant inning of 96 runs in the 2nd inning.

India played to their reputation of no.1 test team as they beat host South Africa by 87 runs on the 4th day just after lunch and level the 3 match series by 1-1 on Wednesday, 29th December, 2010 at Durban.

On the start of day 4 it was anybody's game as South Africa needed 192 runs with 7 wickets in hands, but tight bowling by Indian bowlers removed Kallis, ABD and Boucher early as Zaheer and Sreesanth took 3 wickets each and Harbhajan took 2 wickets to seal the much needed victory.

VVS Laxman got Man of the Match for his match winning 96 runs in the 2nd inning.

India 1st inning - 205 all out in 65.1 overs (Laxman 38, Steyn 6-50, Tsotsobe 2-40)

South Africa 1st inning - 131 all out in 37.2 overs (Amla 33, Harbhajan 4-10, Zaheer 3-36)

India 2nd inning - 228 all out in 70.5 overs (Laxman 96, Tsotsobe 2-43, Morkel 3-47)

South Africa 2nd inning - 215 all out in 72.3 overs (Prince 39*, Sreesanth 3-45, Zaheer 3-57)

Toss - South Africa, who chose to bowl first.

Result - India won by 87 runs

VVS Laxman's fighting 96 runs in the tough conditions helps India set a target of 303 runs and in reply South Africa started +vely with 63 runs for the 1st wicket but then India bounced back with 3 wickets and they were on top if Pujara got a tough catch of Kallis and now the match is evenly balanced and it can be anybody's game on 4th day as South Africa needs another 192 runs and requires 7 wickets.

Second test match of the 3 match series between host South Africa and India on the Boxing day, 26th December, 2010 at Kingsmead, Durban and timing will be 08:00 GMT, 10:00 local, 13:30 IST. South Africa leading the 3 match series by 1-0.

India out played completely in the 1st inning with both and bowl but played relatively well in the 2nd inning but they have to replace Raina by Cheteshwar Pujara in the miidle and if Zaheer will return we hope a better show with the bowl. They have to win or draw this match to make the series alive.

South Africa convincingly win the 1st test and their all batsmen played really well specially Kallis, Amla and ABD. Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel bowled well to bowled out opposition twice.

India announced their strong 16-member one day squad for upcoming 5 match ODI series against South Africa as this is the last series before ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. Sachin Tendulkar is back after scored 200 runs at Gwalior in February.

M Vijay, Rohit Sharma and Saurabh Tiwary left out with the arrival of big names while Yusuf Pathan has been picked up ahead of Ravinder Jadeja after good show in last series.

Piyush Chawla is the only is the only new name who played last game in 2008 while R Ashwin has retained his place .

South Africa beat India by an inning and 25 runs in the 1st test match despite Sachin Tendulkar's historic 50th test century and takes the 1-0 lead in 3 match series. Jacques kallis got Man of the Match for his maiden double century with 201 not out runs.

South African bowlers took only 6 overs to remove the remaining 2 Indian wickets and won the 1st test match by an inning and 25 runs as master blaster Sachin Tendulkar looking at the other corner helplessly with his historic 50th test century and finished on unbeaten 111 runs on Monday, 2oth December, 2010 at Centurion.

India fought well on the 4th day thanks to 172 runs partnership between Tendulkar and Dhoni but departure of captain just before the stumps means only rain can save the visitors but sky was clear and Steyn and Morkel took 1 wicket each today to seal well deserved win.

Jacques Kallis got man of the Match for his maiden unbeaten double century with 201*.

South Africa on top even though Sachin Tendulkar hit historic 50th test century as India were 454/8 at the stumps of day 4 still trailing by 30 runs and only two wickets in hand. India lost 4 early wickets today but Tendulkar and Dhoni put 172-runs stand for the 7th wicket but Dhoni out on 90 runs in the end. It will be a miracle if India can save this match with 2 wickets as their is no support for Sachin at the other end.

Much awaited test series between top two teams India and South Africa is going to start with 1st test starting from Thursday, 16th December, 2010 at SuperSport Park, Centurion and the timing will be 08:30 GMT, 10:30 local, 14:00 IST.

India will be under pressure as being the top test team and they will be tested on fast and bouncy pitch but they have great players like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Virender Sehwag while Gautam Gambhir is also back in form. Fast bowler Zaheer Khan's to play 1st test is doubtful due to hamstring injury and it will be a big blow for them and if won't fit in time either Umesh Yadav or Jaidev Unadkat replace him.

2nd ranked South Africa will try to take home advantage after failed drawn test series against Pakistan in UAE. Their all batsmen including captain Graem Smith, Hashim Amla, Jacques Kallis and AB de Villiers as they dropped Duminy, Botha and Parnell from 12 man squad. Indian selectors announced the 17-member test squad for 3 match series in South Africa as first test Starting from 16th December, 2010. All the team is almost same which is playing against New Zealand including M Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara as Zaheer Khan also included after injury in 2nd test.

Saurashtra's fast bowler Jaivdev Unadkat and Umesh Yadav, playing for Vidarbh has impressed selectors during IPL3 also included along with Bengal wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha. Amit Mishra has been dropped.
