Indian selectors announced 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup-2011, starting from 19th February in the sub-continent. Only surprise in the selection was exclusion of middle order batsman Rohit Sharma, and inclusion of offspinner R Ashwin and legspinner Piyush Chawla, who last palyed his ODI in July 2008. Four injured players Tendulkar, Sehwag, Gambhir and fast bowler Praveen Kumar has been included in the team, confident thay all fit in time for the big occasion.

India is going with 6 specialist batsmen, 3 spinners, 4 fast bowlers, one all rounder Yusuf Pathanand only 1 wicketkeeper Dhoni. Munaf Patel got the reward after helping India to win the 2nd ODI in South Africa.

Fourteen teams are participating in 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup starting from 19th February, jointly held India, Sri Lanka an Bangladesh. 14 teams are divide into 2 groups of 7 teams each with Group A an Group B. Each team will play 6 matches in their group with each other an top 4 teams will be qualified to Quarter-Finals. In QF teams from opposite groups will play in the knock-out games an 4 teams will play Semi-Finals followed by Final on 2nd April 2011.
