Indian ODI and Test Team, Squad for 2009 Tour of New Zealand, Dhawal in, Bhajji back

Indian selectors has announced the both ODI and Test teams for the 2009 tour of New Zealand. Mumbai pacer, Dhawal Kulkarni got a call in the test team just after 6 months after his first-class debut as he was highest wicket taker this season with 42 wickets. L Balaji also come back in the test team after returning in ODIs.

Harbhajan Singh and Munaf Patel after missing the ODI series in Sri Lanka back in the team. Dinesh Karthik will be the reserve keeper for the entire series while Ravider Jadeja got a chance only in Twenty20 team.

Finally host Sri Lanka fought well in the series to avoid white wash as they won 5th and final match by 68 runs against India on Sunday, 8th February, 2009 at Colombo. India won the 5 match series by 4-1.

Sri Lanka won their first toss of the series and elected to bat scored 320 runs in 50 overs thanks to Dilshan and Sangakkara made 97 off 117 balls with 9 fours and 84 off 70 balls 8 fours and a six respectively. Ishanth Sharma took 3 wickets.

In Reply India lost early wickets as they reduced to 9 for 2 but Yuraj, Dhoni and Jadeja made 73, 53 and 60 not out toshow some resistance.

Match Summary:

Sri Lanka - 320/8 in 50 overs.

India - 252 all out in 48.5 overs.

Toss - Sri Lanka, who chose to bat first.

Result - Sri Lanka won by 68 runs.

Man of The Match - Kumara Sangakkara (Sri Lanka).

India is on the way to 2nd conesecetive whitewash series against host Sri Lanka when they meet for the 5th and Final ODI on Sunday, 8th February, 2009 at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo after won 5-0 against England. India leading the 5 match series by 4-0.

India had won convincigly last match even though resting their key players and they are clear favorite to clinch the series by 5-0. India will likely rest Yuraj Singh and Praveen Kumar and bring in debutant Ravindra Jadeja and L Balaji.

Sri Lanka desperately need a win to avoid whitwash at home and will need good support from their batsmen and bowlers specially Muralitharan and Mendis.

India won its 9th consecetive ODI as the won 4th match against host Sri Lanka on Thursday, 5th February, 2009 at Colombo taken a 4-0 lead in the series. India made 332/5 andbowled out Sri Lanka on 265.

India won the toss again and elcted to bat first scored 332 in 50 overs thanks to Gambhir and Dhoni. Gambhir who has open the inning in the absence of Tendulkar scored his highest ODI score ogf 150 runs and Dhoni made 94 at no 3.

Sri Lanka started well but boweled out on 265 runs in 47.5 overs. There only celebration was Muralitharans record of breaking Wasim Akrams record of highest ODI wicket taker when he got century maker Gautam Gambhir fis 503 wicket.

Match Summary:

India - 332/5 in 50 overs.

Sri Lanka - 265 all out in 47.5 overs.

Toss - India, who chose to bat first.

Result - India won by 67 runs.
