India vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI Preview - 28th Januart at Dambulla

In order to compensate cancelled tour of Pakistan, India is going to play 5 ODI and 1 T20 in Sri Lanka as 1st ODI will be played on Wednesday, 28th January, 2009 at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in a Day-Night game from 14.30 local and 9.00 GMT.

India last played ODI series against England two months back and won by 5-0 of the 7 match series shortened due Mumbai terror attack. They also won the 5 match ODI series played in July 2008 by 3-2 so they are in high confidence as all batsman are in great form.

Sri Lanka recently won the 3 match ODI series by 2-1 against Pakistan after losing the 1st ODI by 8 wickets. Tilakratne Dilshan is in great form and spinner duo of Muralitharan and Mendis will be big danger for Indians.

Hope to see a great and thrilling series of two good and well balance ODI teams.

Indian, Team, Squad for 2009 ODI Series against Sri Lanka

After the cancellation of 2009 Pakistan tour India will play a short series against Sri Lanka of 5 ODI's and one Twenty20 starting from 28th January, 2009.

Indian selectors announced team for 5 ODI's and included IPL winner Rajasthan Royals Ravindra Jadeja as he is in great form this season as he was the leading wicket-taker, with 42 wickets, and he scored 739 runs at 67.18 to finish sixth on the run-scorers' list. Harbhajan Singh has been reted while fast bowler Praveen Kumar called back.

India won Test Series by 1-0 after 2nd Test Drawn

India won the 2 match test seies by 1-0 against England after 2nd match ended in a boring draw on 5th and final day at Chandigadh, Mohali on Tuesday, 23rd December, 2008. India won the 1st test at Chennai last week and thus won the short match series.

5th day also got delayed due to fog as both Yuraj and Gambhir started positively scored quick runs but India delayed in declaration for the centuries of Yuraj and Gambhir but unfortunately the both out on 86 and 97 runs respectively and India declared their inning on 251/7. India set a traget of 403 runs in 44 overs possible on the last day of the match.

England then payed safely with the loss of cook's wicket and ended the day on 64/1. England lost the series but they played well and appreciated their return to India after Mumbai Terror attack.

Gautam Gambhir declared Man of the Match for his innings of 179 and 97 runs while Zaheer Khan awarded Man of the Series for its fine bowling in the series specially reverse swing.

Match Summary:

India 1st Inning - 453 all out in 158.2 overs.

England 1st Inning - 302 all out in 83.5 overs.

India 2nd Inning - 251/7 in 73 overs.

England 1st Inning - 64/1 in 28 overs.

Toss - India, who chose to bat first.

Result - Match drawn.

Man of The Series - Zaheer Khan (India).

On the 4th day of second and final test match between India and England, only 60 overs of play was possible due to heavy fog in the morning and bad ligh in the evening at Chandigadh, Mohali. India lead by 285 runs with 6 wickets remaining on the final day.

England just added 20 more runs in 1st inning total on the 4th day morning as Harbhajan Singh wrapped up by picking 3 wickets and Zaheer took 1 wicket. ngland all out on 302 runs giving India a crucial 151 runs 1st inning lead.

India in reply started well but quick wickets of Sehwag and Dravid moved them on back foot and they played realy slow scored 134 runs in 50 overs of play and only Yuraj Singh played some shorts in his run a ball 39 runs. Gambhir is playing on unbeaten 44 runs off 149 balls.

The match is heading for a draw depends on how much play possible tomorrow and when India declare their inning in the morning.
